Anthropic Picks Persona to Verify Claude Users

Starting July 8, Anthropic will verify the identity of flagged Claude accounts with a government ID and a selfie check, and it chose Persona, the SF identity platform that calls itself a Rails-first company, to run the verification.

TechCrunch, Gizmodo, and PYMNTS all covered the rollout, which applies to a flagged subset of Free, Pro, and Max accounts. For Persona ($418M raised, $2B valuation), it lands a month after FedRAMP Moderate authorization: one of the most closely watched AI labs now runs its trust layer on a Ruby company.

Instacart Is Gemini's First Grocery Partner

Gemini users can now connect Instacart and build a real, shoppable cart in conversation, then check out for delivery or pickup (May 19). Gemini joins Claude and ChatGPT among the major assistants with agentic Instacart shopping. In June the Rails-built platform shipped Immersive Feed, a shoppable video ad format launching with brands like Siete Foods and Hellmann's.

A milestone we missed last month: the Rails-built payroll and HR platform passed $1 billion in trailing twelve-month recognized revenue (May 7) and has been cash-flow positive for several years. Fortune and TechCrunch both read the announcement, at a $9.3B valuation, as a step toward public markets.

RubyLLM spent June 24 on the Hacker News front page with 446 points and 82 comments, the loudest mainstream moment yet for Carmine Paolino's library.

The timing was earned: v1.16 shipped days earlier with concurrent AI tool execution in threads or fibers, observability instrumentation without monkey patching, and proxy support for every provider. At 4,200+ GitHub stars and climbing 250 a month, RubyLLM is maturing from a beloved API wrapper into production agent infrastructure.
